Pools can turn green for a number of reasons, usually associated with soil runoff from heavy rain, flower and leaf debris, and depending on the time of year, algae can create blooms. Treatment includes chlorines and flocculant.
Poor circulation can be caused by leaves blocking up the pool cleaner mouth, the weir and pump baskets. If all the baskets are clean and the pump is still slow, it could be an issue with the filter sand. When last did you backwash your filter? How old is the sand, is it clogged and coagulated with years of chemical additives and dirt.
This can be caused by a faulty pump and the capacitor could be faulty. Call in a technician to repair the fault.
Depending on the amount of air bubbles in your pool, this could have a negative effect on the efficiency of your pool cleaner. It is caused by air leaking into the system, either at the suction side of the pump or under the weir in the plumbing. Before you dig up the garden it is best to call a pool technician in to find the leak and repair it.
Water leaks in pools are commonplace and we need to conserve water wherever possible. The culprit is usually the multiport valve and its rubber gasket, called a wagon wheel gasket. If one finds the multiport valve handle difficult or sticky to rotate, chances are the wagon wheel gasket needs replacement.
